Bird Gallery
Birds are some of the most rewarding yet challenging wildlife subjects to photograph. Capturing natural bird photography often requires patience, fieldcraft and a bit of luck, with everything needing to align at the right moment – the bird behaving naturally, the light falling perfectly, and the location allowing for the style of wildlife photography I favour, often using softly blurred foregrounds and backgrounds to frame the subject within its habitat.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to photograph a wide variety of UK birds, including some of the country’s most special and sought-after species. The images in this gallery focus mainly on birds photographed closer to home, capturing them within their natural environments.
Birds photographed further afield, including species from Scotland and other parts of Europe, can be found in a separate gallery on the previous page.
I hope you enjoy browsing this collection of bird photography and that these images reflect the time, patience and appreciation for wildlife that goes into photographing birds in the wild.
