Moth Gallery
Moths are a hidden side of the natural world, most active long after the day has faded. Photographing them brings a different rhythm to my work, often beginning very early in the morning, when the trap reveals what has been drawn in from the surrounding landscape.
Each session is an unknown, shaped by season, weather and location. Some nights are quiet, others surprisingly diverse, but all offer the chance to encounter species that are so often overlooked. Up close, moths reveal an incredible variety of patterns, textures and subtle colours that are rarely appreciated in passing.
This gallery brings together a selection of species recorded and photographed during these nights out, mostly from North Wales and surrounding areas. It reflects not just the moths themselves, but the experience of discovering them.
I hope these images offer a closer look at a group of insects that deserve far more attention than they often receive.
