Wildlife Walk: Cemlyn, Anglesey,

Sandiwch Terns, Sea Kale, Gulls

I spent an early morning at Gronant Dunes and was not disappointed. Starting with Marsh Harrier and Barn Owl, then great views of the Little Terns before finding a Compass Jellyfish, interesting flowers including some orchids and finally a trio of moths. 

Nercwys: Stunning Moths, Butterflies and Flowers

With limited time this week, I head out to Nercwys, a local patch, to catch up with some of the wildlife there. The undoubted star of the show is a wonderful female Emperor Moth, with a supporting cast of some fascinating beetles, non-native flowers and some welcomed butterflies.

Gwydir Forest, Eryri (Snowdonia) - Hidden Fungi, rare flowers & an STI.

I head out in the forests of Eryri to seek out a wonderful spring fungus that likes to grow in bogs. I also encounter some of the wonderful flowers that inhabit the area including Lousewort and Alpine Penny-cress which is a perfect alpine plant without the alpine walk.

Llyn Crafnant & Crimpiau - Walks & Wildlife 2026

A glorious walk around Llyn Crafnant with a dog leg up to the top of Crimpiau for some wonderful views. Along the way some great bird encounters, a lizard and a few plnts make this a truly great spring time walk. This quiet corner of Snowdonia is certainly worth an explore. 

Winter Birds, North Wales - Walks & Wildlife 2026

This time I am out a few locations across North Wales to chase some birds, from scarce Egrets, to distant divers and some wonderful encounters with many ducks. The sun was shining, there were lots of birds, why not make a brew and join me for a days birding. 

Rhinogs, Snowdonia

​The first in the series of the Walks & Wildlife videos, I head to the Rhinogs, one of the more remote areas of Snowdonia. It is a lovely day and walk with encounters of amazing Lichens, Goats and even a Black Swan at the very start of the walk. This is where it all began with these videos.

South Stack: Seabirds, Rare Flowers

South Stack has to be one of the premiere wildlife sites in North Wales, with thousands upon thousands of seabirds on the cliffs, lots of coastal plants - including a very rare flower we encounter, plus insects and all sorts. Take a look for yourself and see if you agree.

Great Orme: Rare flowers, Chough, Goats...​

This time I am on the Great Orme in Llandudno to see what spring wildlife I can encounter. The Orme is home to some seriously rare plants, with one we encounter pretty much only found here. Choughs, caterpillars, more flowers and of course, the goats, make this a special video. 

Searching for Hazel Gloves, Capel Curig, Eryri - Walks & Wildlife 2026

After photographing Hazel Gloves a few weeks ago near Capel Curig I return to see if there is any more. Along the way we encounter Lichens, Mosses and even an unusual bird. Of course no walk in this area would be complete without stopping for a late breakfast at Cafe Siabod.

Llyn Cefni, Anglesey - Walks & Wildlife 2026

​In this third episode, I head  back to Anglesey to explore Llyn Cefni in January Expect some winter fungi like Scarlet Elf Cup and Jelly Ear as well as plenty of ducks including an usual visitor. Of course, no visit to this area would be complete without seeing the amazing Red Squirrels

The Hidden Wildlife of Snowdon,

I venture up on to Snowdon during a rather misty day to try and find some of the rare alpine flowers that call this mountain home, including the very rare Snowdon Lily. Along the way I encounter a rare lichen, some carnivorous plants and some interesting ferns and clubmosses.

Deeside Industrial Estate

This week I take you on to my patch along a cycle path at the back of the Deeside Industrial Estate. For many of us these urban areas, parks, cemeteries, old brownfield sites are the places we connect with nature, and I want to show you that they can be very interesting places indeed. 

Searching for: St George's Mushroom

I hunt for St George's Mushrooms, an iconic spring species that is highly sought. Along the way I encounter some wonderful and unappreciated spring wildflowers including Town Hall Clock and Toothwort. An unexpected encounter with Morels really made for a memorable day. 

Rare Fungi in the Snow, Bryn Alyn - Walks & Wildlife 2026

A sudden flurry of snow meant that filming the special lichens that occur at this site was impossible, but finding some locally rare species of fungi more than made up for it. Join me on a pleasant wintery walk in search of fungi and wintery views in this lovely Denbighshire location. 

Porth Nobla, Anglesey - Walks & Wildlife 2025

​In this second episode, I head to Anglesey to have a walk around Porth Nobla in December, a place filled with lichens, birds, seaweeds and lots of other interesting species. This is more of the wildlife and less of the walk as there is so much to see on this gloriously sunny day.
