St David's Day Wild Daffodil

Writer: David WinnardDavid Winnard

As today is St David's Day we thought we would share a little ID sheet of the native Wild Daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus). Small than the garden varieties that sometimes 'escape' in to the wild, the trumpet is more yellow than the surrounding tepals. Whilst a more modest 30-35cm in height it is still larger than the very small garden daffodils (like Tete a Tete).

Look for them in woodlands and damp grassland areas, they really are a beautiful sign that Easter is just around the corner!
