Powdery Mildews

To many rusts, smuts and mildews may not seen the most exciting things to look for, but actually they are fascinating and often easy to identify if you can identify the host plant. Below we have arranged Powdery Mildews, Rusts, Smuts and Others and Downy Mildews in order of the plants they occur on from A-Z.

Powdery Mildews often occur as greyish casts on the leaves of plants. Many gardeners will know of them and there are many to look for in the wild. Below are some of the species we have found.

Rusts & Smuts

Rusts and smuts are often distinctive cups or marking on the leaves, often host specific, so knowing your plants is a big help. Through a hand lens they are quite beautiful.
